The Team

It was the day of the 2023 Global Game Jam and the team Pet Vacuum was ready to take on the challenge. The theme for the year was roots, and they were eager to interpret it in a unique way. With the recent global success of ChatGPT, the team was inspired to create an ai-powered multiplayer murder mystery VR game called Detective GPT.

Brennan Hatton, the leader of the team, through his 30th birthday brought together a diverse group of designers, programmers, and artists to work on the project. They had a great track record, having launched "Find My Phone App The Game VR" in 2021, a VR comedy game that reached over 40,000 people in its first year.

Wilson Taylor, the Narrative Director, was responsible for writing the story. He worked closely with Tim Christie, the Mechanic Designer and Programmer, to bring the game to life. Clement Chan was in charge of all things audio and Dale Keaveny was the team's music specialist.

Dale and Brennan met only a few days before, when Dale put his hand up to be involved!

Tim Randall, a new addition to the team joined for his first every game jam! With some great addition to design, he built the game's website and online presence.

As they worked, they interpreted the theme of roots as the root cause of an event, leading to the origin and finally, to being a detective. The game was designed as a multiplayer experience where players must convince Detective GPT, an ai-powered character, who the murderer is. Alternatively, players could try and get away with murder themselves.

‍The team worked tirelessly, putting in long hours and putting their creativity and skills to the test. They pushed each other to bring out the best in each other, and the end result was a masterpiece of a game.The final product was showcased at the Global Game Jam, and it was a huge success. Players were thoroughly impressed by the ai technology and the intricate storyline. Detective GPT became an instant hit and was praised for its innovative use of VR and AI.

Pet Vacuum had once again proven their ability to create cutting-edge games in a short time frame. They were proud of what they had accomplished and were excited to see what the future held. Detective GPT it just the beginning of their journey in the world of AI and VR gaming.
